When BEAR Magazine launched in 1987, it put a name to an emerging identity within the GLBT identity that had previously gone unnoticed: the unapologetically hyper-masculine gay male. Since then this overtly-masculine identity has permeated the gay mainstream and exploded onto the world stage.
