It go back to June 28, 1969, when police raid a gay club lled the Stonewall Inn New York. Siar raids on gay-iendly bs had been occurrg for s, but Stonewall was one of the first tim when the patrons fought back.
A diverse crowd of lbians, gay men and transgenr women, many of whom were people of lor, clashed wh the police, threw bottl and refed to be timidated.
