New Orleans Gay Pri is one of the largt gathergs of LGBTQ people the Uned Stat. The history of the event dat back to 1971, when the Gay Liberatn Front of New Orleans staged a gay celebratn.
The gay pri events New Orleans now take place at the begng of June, and ually durg the first full weekend of the month.

The UpStairs Lounge Fire occurred on June 24, 1973 at the UpStairs Lounge, a popular gay bar the French Quarter.
Followg the cint, media verage was sparse (pecially after reporters learned the fire happened at a gay bar) and the mayor of New Orleans offered no public statement.

There is no doubt that the cint was a tragedy and most likely gay on gay crime, but the bigger tragedy was how the cy, relig figureheads, the muny, and fay members rpond so disrpectfully and negatively to the loss of liv. The Gayns. Pri New Orleans is a wonrful event, Southern Dence (Labor Day weekend) is a hot sweaty fun ms, Mardi Gras of urse is uber gay, Halloween is beyond gay, and the Easter Para is probably even gayer than the Pri Para.
The cy don’t have a te gayborhood neighborhood as the French Quarter self and the artistic Marigny area seem very acceptg. It was great to see that the cy is flourishg and that the gay nightlife is still gog strong.
A mix of straight women, bridal parti, and gay men ma up the sailors that day.

We also did take a gay ghost tour. Walkg wh the Gay Ghosts of Nola hosted by Marc was fun, met some great people, learned some more tidbs of past and prent gay history of the cy.
