REVIEW 2023
Unvolvg gay-themed melodrama. Gerald McCullouch directed and stars as Col, an olr profsnal gay man who hangs out wh a platonic buddy named Stew, stigatg an timate relatnship wh a much-younger man, an tern at his office.
McCullouch toys wh the clichés and stereotyp herent this scenar (the gays namedrop Madonna, go to the gym regularly, and h the bars not for a thrillg night out but wh the tent on fdg sexual partners); however, havg a gay protagonist who also lik sports isn't exactly groundbreakg, while the scen of gay timacy are merely hted at. Gay love has been shown to better advantage as subplots heterosexual-domated films, which mak one wonr why McCulloch didn't (or wasn't allowed to) go all the way wh his narrative. Playg safe won't expand the boundari of gay cema-- never has.
Another embarrassg piece of "gay cema". Actor gerald McCullouch giv a performance that feels very thentic for a middle aged gay male character that we all have seen om time to time but wh a heart. I gave this film 8 stars bee wh the libre of low budget gay films out there this one seems very polished and plete but also very well ma and acted.
