People have said to me directly or to others that they feel gy about sharg their homosexualy Jiu Jsu circl, particularly after beg accepted as “one of the boys/girls” the locker room culture. Of urse, geography and mographics play a role this, as some parts of the world are still strongly opposed to homosexualy Jiu Jsu and every other aspect of life.

I am the first to say we mt be dog somethg wrong on a global sle here terms of acceptg homosexualy Jiu Jsu for what is – sexualy, which we all have and value que a lot. In almost every se where people eher ed a Jiu Jsu gym openly gay or me out, later on, they ran to a very supportive environment. While I salute projects like the Jiu Jsu school led by the first openly gay Brazilian uple, Ana “Baby” Vieira and Luanna Alzuguir, Boynton Beach, I am ashamed that the sport I love so much needs actns like this to nvey a simple msage that, herently, we all agree on – you’re safe on the mats no matter who you are.
