There was an anchor stamped on the bottom, and the si of the glass had a small signature that read “Gay Fad. But “Gay Fad”?
Gay Fad Anchor Hockg shot glass wh stars and strip. There are tons of vtage ems for sale onle that tout the Gay Fad name.
But there isn’t a lot of rmatn on what Gay Fad actually was. So this post is an attempt to be the available on Gay Fad to a short history of the pany.

Always wantg to learn more, I ntacted Kty Hanson of the Santa Fe Tradg Post about my spected Gay Fad juice set. Miss Kty, as she is most known, is -thor of the new and credibly, exhstively, rearched two-volume encyclopedia set about Fran Taylor and Gay Fad Studs, Gay Fad: Fran Taylor’s Extraordary Legacy.

My opn is that you may well have an early Gay Fad orange sign, but that’s gog to be difficult to fively prove.
So if your set is by Gay Fad, that would mean that Fran produced Detro before movg Gay Fad Studs to Lanster, OH 1945. As we say “The Fran Taylor Story” chapter of our book (page 5, volume 1), we have yet to disver a newspaper article about Fran or Gay Fad or a Gay Fad ad dated prr to 1945. That article is reproduced the “Gay Fad Articl” chapter (page 180, Volume 2).
We also know that Gay Fad produced a variety of Orange signs over the years, and we show pictur of 10 of them the “Gay Fad Digns – Intified” chapter (page 103 of Volume 1). So aga, my opn is that your set may well be an early Gay Fad orange sign, but that’s gog to be almost impossible to prove – at least at this pot time. The dat of the vtage Deprsn glass ci wh Fran Taylor and Gay Fad’s early years durg which the ld patg was done.

However, there’s somethg about Gay Fad Stud’s signs, and, pecially, Fran Taylor herself that speaks to me… I do also have a ballera shaker that I’ve sce e to believe was a Gay Fad Studs piece too. So maybe I’ll have to pluck this vtage juice set out of the se and jt accept the fact that I’m now llectg Gay Fad glassware. "We've done a lot of farm sal here over the years, and there has been a smatterg of Gay Fad glassware, but nothg like this. "Gay Fad Studs was found Detro, Michigan 1939, before s founr Fran Taylor moved operatns to Lanster 1945. Demand for the product expand, and Gay Fad took off Lanster.
"He add he wasn't sure how well the piec would do once they went to ctn: the past, Gay Fad studs weren't pecially popular.
