Renowned Lady's man and amatr slth Gay Lrence AKA The Faln (Gee Sanrs) is gog to forsake chasg dam and solvg crim for the sake of his fiancée Elor Benford (Na Vale). However, Elor be angry when she realis why Gay changed his md about attendg the party and retaliat by dancg wh one of the other guts Manuel Retana (Turhan Bey). In tratn, she grabs the flower om Retana's lapel and flgs at Gay.

Gardner then sists on dancg wh Gay and while they are dancg she hands him her diamond secretly.
Her actn puzzl Gay greatly but before he n ask her about she leav the room. Gay follows Goldie to the police statn where he speaks to Inspector Mike Walck (Arthur Shields) and manag to nvce him to release Goldie to act as ba to lure the killer out to the meets them at the statn and the three of them head off to Maxe's apartment to qutn her.
Gay tells Maxe that he spects that Mrs Gardner was volved wh a gang of jewel thiev led by Retana.
