Gay follows Goldie to the police statn where he speaks to Inspector Mike Walck (Arthur Shields) and manag to nvce him to release Goldie to act as ba to lure the killer out to the meets them at the statn and the three of them head off to Maxe's apartment to qutn her. Gay tells Maxe that he spects that Mrs Gardner was volved wh a gang of jewel thiev led by Retana. The Faln returns home where Bat tells him that Goldie is once aga beg held on spicn of murr and that Walck wants to speak to Gay back at Headquarters.

Meanwhile, back at the club Bat has arrted Elor for obstctn and when she phon Gay om the police statn he stcts Walck to meet him at Maxe Wood's apartment. There Maxe tells them that her life has been threatened, promptg Gay and Walck to promise to stay the night to protect her.
