I’m hontly really happy to see LGBT dramas portray such realistic aspects of gay relatnships, such as societal prsure and tryg to e to a nsens wh somethg both Jerry and Damian n agree on ( this se ’s havg children). His teractns wh his “son” and wh Mike are so natural I uld hardly believe this was the first drama where he played a gay character. This may only be a short seri, but spe s length there is a very strong portrayal of a married gay uple and their adoptn, vers how those around them and society as a whole reacts to the nnectns.

I gus I was anticipatg that this movie would be a glossy celebratn of gay men who choose to raise (and stat where 's legal, adpot) children; while that movie would have served a purpose, also would've been largely preachg to the nverted. Instead, _Daddy and Papa_ smartly anticipat qutns people cril or uncid about gay adoptn would raise about the practice, and also ref to steer away om stickly qutns as they arrive.
Director Symons and his partner speak openly about their own experienc wh adoptn, and many other children, foster parents, grandparents, birth parents, and gay parents are also terviewed. The impact of gay parents "divorcg" is discsed, as are the specific difficulti that arise om gay whe men raisg (prumably) straight Ain-Amerin children, the feelgs the childrens have regardg not havg a mother, and the way the parents handle wispread perceptns that gay men raisg children mt face pedophilic temptatns.
