While there is a void of natnal rearch about amic achievement for gay and transgenr youth, the California Safe Schools Coaln has produced a number of rearch briefs that look at the impact harassment and discrimatn based on sexual orientatn and genr inty has on amic achievement and school safety California schools.

Thirty-one percent of gay and transgenr youth who felt safe at school received mostly A’s, pared to 18 percent who did not feel safe at school. Thirty-five percent of gay and transgenr youth who felt safe at school received A’s and B’s, pared to 26 percent who did not feel safe at school.
