While there is a void of natnal rearch about amic achievement for gay and transgenr youth, the California Safe Schools Coaln has produced a number of rearch briefs that look at the impact harassment and discrimatn based on sexual orientatn and genr inty has on amic achievement and school safety California schools. Thirty-one percent of gay and transgenr youth who felt safe at school received mostly A’s, pared to 18 percent who did not feel safe at school.
Thirty-five percent of gay and transgenr youth who felt safe at school received A’s and B’s, pared to 26 percent who did not feel safe at school. Eighty-three percent of gay and transgenr stunts who strongly feel safe at school have plans to go to llege, pared to 67 percent of those who do not feel safe at school.
The study found that gay and transgenr stunts schools wh GSAs are ls likely to drop out and more likely to succeed higher tn.
