One recent survey found that nearly <a href=">50% of bisexual men are not out at work</a>, while a survey nducted by Match reported that <a href=">bisexual men are ls likely to feel supported by the LGBTQ+ muny</a>.</p><div data-attr-viewport-monor="le-recirc" class="le-recirc-wrapper le-recirc-observer-target-1 viewport-monor-anchor"></div><p>On-screen reprentatn has work to do, too. A <a data-offer-url=" class="external-lk" data-event-click="{"element":"ExternalLk","outgogURL":"" href=" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">2018 study nducted by GLAAD</a> found that out of 109 movi released that year om major productn pani, only 14 featured LGBTQ+ characters (and only two of those characters intified as bisexual). That’s why Man, a 15-year-old teen om Florida who intifi as bisexual, found this season of <em>13 Reasons Why</em> to be so impactful.</p><p>“It ma me feel valid and noticed,” she tells <em>Teen Vogue</em> of watchg Alex and Charlie's relatnship velop. “I thk media ually portrays bisexual people as cheaters and that’s actually pretty harmful. I hate seeg . Jt bee someone lik [more than one genr] don’t mean they’re gonna cheat on you.”</p><p>After enterg a relatnship wh a man, Alex’s inty is never challenged by his peers, and his prr relatnships wh women are not lled to qutn. The storyle surroundg his relatnship wh Charlie breaks many misnceptns and stereotyp surroundg bisexual men, like the (rrect and harmful) thought that beg bisexual is <a href=">a “p stop” on the way to intifyg as gay</a>, or that beg bisexual negat any prr feelgs or relatnships.</p><p>Studi show that bisexual men are nstantly battlg stigmas om both wh and outsi the queer muny. <a href=">A 2016 survey nducted by <em>Glamour</em></a> reported that 63% of the participatg women stated they would not date a man who has had sex wh another man. The same survey, however, found that a large portn of the 1,000 women qutned were fortable explorg the spectm of their own sexuali, th potg out a grave double standard.</p><p><a href=">Acrdg to Vice</a>, a 2015 survey found that, of 3,000 participants, a vast majory qutned whether men n "tly" be bisexual (they n!), wonrg stead if ’s "jt a phase" (’s not!). Addnally, <a href=">a study published the <em>Journal of Bisexualy</em></a> 2019 reported that many of the participatg women admted to fdg bisexual men ls attractive — both sexually and romantilly — than straight men. It’s bee of this — and many other reasons — that <a href=">bisexual folks are ls likely to e out to loved on</a> than those who intify as gay.</p><p>All of this pots to why bisexual men are so hard to fd televisn and film, though that is clearly startg to change. In 2019, Freeform’s h seri <em>The Bold Type</em> troduced Patrick Duchand — head of the fictnal magaze’s “dot ” — who allud to havg relatnships wh multiple genrs. (The cln me as no surprise to fans, nsirg how the seri has so acctately and powerfully picted <a href=">Kat Edison’s bisexual awakeng</a>). Siarly, <em>Scht’s Creek</em> pated Dan Levy’s character David Rose as beg pansexual, experiencg timate relatnships wh both men and women.</p><p>“I was always told that bisexualy is jt beg ‘cisive’ and not ‘pickg a si,’” adds Man. “Bisexual reprentatn on screen would have helped me so much when I was younger and qutng.
