EDWARD GAY (ARTIST)
From gay paters like Leonardo da Vci and Andy Warhol to bisexuals like Frida Kahlo and trans artists like Lili Elbe and Jefey Cathere Jon, the rabow of great LGBTQ+ paters stretch around the world. London-based photographer Sunil Gupta has spent much of his reer chroniclg the bety and stggle of his own gay muny. The seri of photographs was his rponse to Sectn 28, a group of laws that prohibed promotg “the acceptabily of homosexualy as a pretend fay relatnship” the Uned Kgdom.
Gupta’s works be portras of gay upl, some staged and others real, wh imag om protts agast Sectn 28. Kelly was an openly gay man—one of his long-term partners was fellow artist Robert Indiana. Warhol lived openly as a gay man.
Hartley was never openly gay. Amerin photographer and reporter Nancy Andrews published Fay: A Portra of Gay and Lbian Ameri 1993. Andrews scribed as “the book I looked for when I began to realize I was gay.
