This isn't part of my own belief, I was talkg to a iend about the movie today and he mentned how he was gay, we then entered a bate about wh me believg that he isn't really gay, that the scene we see where he tri to kiss Lter is as a rult due to distrs that he believ his son is gay which him to be nfed as to how he views gay people. His son is sentially a part of him, he (Ricky) is arguably the most important part of his father's life (sce he is not picted wh any other iends or showg affectn to his wife) and how he is raised exactly like how Fts wanted/wants to be, havg his son 'turn out gay' means that his view on gay people, his son and his imprsn on the perfect male tertwe, th havg him be nfed as to how he feels about the whole oral, he has a mixture of nfed emotns and don't know what to brg out, you get my pot.
But, my iend argu that he was gay all along and fdg out his son was gay (even though he is not) mak him feel more alright to be gay (we n wns sometim homophobia dividuals who are nial of beg attracted to be men or don't want to be 'ught) and that the explanatn as to why he has a wife and a son is jt as a rult of him also beg somewhat bisexual. I'm 100% that I'm right bee I really n't see how the lonel is actually gay, and how that would ntribute to the story, also would remove some of the pth to the story terms of each character's evolutn (the father wouldn't have changed, he would have jt been more 'open' about his sexualy, unlike other characters who change as the movie progrs, this pot is if the father is actually gay), so this post is really about so I n get the pot of view om you guys and tell my iend ''I told you so''.
In short, the Colonel portrays a number of characteristics of homosexual self-hatred, repeatedly observg the joggers (and Lter) wh evint tert, but then aggrsively qutng his son when he shows what he perceiv to be homosexual tras (he reacts very poorly when he se the shower scene om Top Gun on his son's monor, for example).
