In June 1982 the Gay London Police Monorg Group was created, part to expose the systematic harassment of the gay and lbian muni by the police, but also to te those muni about their rights.
At first, was a voluntary groupg of lawyers and terted parti providg a service to gay men who suffered om arbrary and discrimatory policg.

Wh a number of high-profile homophobic murrs Galop played a ccial role providg a lk between the LGBT muni and the police wh val rmatn gathered om reports to our helple assistg succsful arrts and nvictns. The gay muni were often seen as an easy target for arrts and timidatn.
