Joseph Murphy spoke about his alholism and how impacted his journey of self-love and acceptance as a gay man growg up the 1960s. He also spoke about his membership Seaast Gay Men, a social group for gay men the area formed 1979, and Gay Alholics Anonymo.

Murphy stated he attend the support groups “religly, ” bee he was able to meet other gay men wh very siar experienc. Unfortunately, the two never had an official relatnship due to Stiefel’s stggle to e to terms wh his sexualy, which was ma worse by the overwhelmg homophobia of the time.
