In 2015, Tom Kfhold started the NH Seaast LGBT History Project to “rearch, document, and prerve the history of gay, lbian, bisexual, and transgenr people on the Seaast of New Hampshire wh emphasis on Portsmouth” (NH Seaast LGBT History Project, 2021). Above all, the exhib honored the fiftieth anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Rts, which took place after an unjt police raid of a popular gay bar New York Cy. She reced the terviewe, also referred to as narrators, by advertisg through posters and viss to lol LGBTQ+ social groups, such as Seaast Gay Men.
” However, she also spoke about the Gay Stunts Organizatn which UNH officially regnized 1973, but was then forced to whdraw regnn by s board of tste and the New Hampshire ernor. The se was cid the Gay Stunts Organizatn’s favor December 1974, and this cisn was upheld by the state supreme urt October 1975.
Joseph Murphy spoke about his alholism and how impacted his journey of self-love and acceptance as a gay man growg up the 1960s.

Murphy stated he attend the support groups “religly, ” bee he was able to meet other gay men wh very siar experienc. Unfortunately, the two never had an official relatnship due to Stiefel’s stggle to e to terms wh his sexualy, which was ma worse by the overwhelmg homophobia of the time.
