Amerins’ attus about gays and lbians have changed dramatilly over the past or so, and the LGBT adults are acutely aware of this. At the same time, only about one--five LGBT adults (19%) say there is “a lot” of social acceptance of lbian, gay, bisexual and transgenr people this untry today, and 53% say there is a lot of discrimatn agast the groups. This sectn will look pth at how LGBT adults view var Amerin stutns (cludg the two polil parti), how they perceive and experience discrimatn, and how levels of social acceptance differ across groups of LGBT adults (gay men, lbians, bisexual men and bisexual women). LGBT rponnts were asked, overall, how much social acceptance there is of gay, lbian, bisexual and transgenr people this untry today. Roughly three--ten bisexuals (28%) say there is only a ltle or no acceptance of the LGBT populatn, pared wh 15% of gay men and 16% of lbians.

Rponnts were also asked to asss the level of social acceptance for specific LGBT groups: gay men, lbians, bisexual men, bisexual women and transgenr people. Across the LGBT populatn, bisexual women and lbians are viewed as beg more accepted by society than gay men, bisexual men or transgenr people.
There is a signifint gap perceptns about the extent to which society accepts gay men and lbians. One--four LGBT adults say there is a lot of social acceptance of lbians, while only 15% say there is a lot of acceptance of gay men. When to social acceptance of gay men, gay men themselv are jt as likely as lbians and bisexuals to say there is a lot of social acceptance for their group.
Lbians’ views about how much their group is accepted by society are almost intil to the views of gay men and bisexuals. About ne--ten LGBT adults (92%) say society is more acceptg of gay, lbian, bisexual and transgenr people than was 10 years ago.
