Gay Cy was first settled 1796 by the lear of a relig sect.
Most were members of the Gay fay, hence the town's name. Gay Cy thrived for many years, but fightg wh the muny led to s cle and the town had pretty much died out by the Civil War. There are mors that Gay Cy State Park is hnted.
