For Spir-Man, Marvel termed that he mt be male and “not a homosexual, ” wh the tertg addn that the latter would be validated if “Marvel has portrayed that character as a homosexual. Even the rtrictn that’s gaed the most attentn — “not a homosexual” — has the get-out clse that ’s okay if Marvel has done the ics first. A gay Spir-Man isn’t a problem, as long as Marvel gets to do the ics (and, as a rult, reaps the publicy rewards attached) first.
Marvel Comics’ universe-hoppg Edge of Spir-Verse #5, which hs stor September, will feature three new metaverse versns of Spir-Man — cludg the beloved character’s first gay rnatn, known as Web-Weaver.Marvel scrib the character as a “not-so-d mannered fashn signer at Van Dyne [Indtri]” — the pany owned by Ja Van Dyne, aka the Wasp — who “gets spir-powers and shows a very different kd of Spir-Slayer.”Eisner-nomated gay wrer Steve Foxe, prevly known for his work on the superhero duo ic Archer & Armstrong for Valiant Comics and Marvel’s X-Men ‘92, will wre the story.
