In March of 2009, Patricia Mceri was fired om One Life to Live over a dispute wh the producers over a scene which her character — a rosary-prayg Catholic — would give full-throated endorsement to the gay liftyle.
(Note: an earlier post of this paragraph ed the term “gay marriage” stead of “gay liftyle” but when I went back and read the terview I realized the word marriage wasn’t actually ed.

Then they troduced a gay storyle 2009.
PM: Yeah, and wasn’t so much that they troduced a gay storyle. I gus they wanted to promote a…gay storyle and they cid to e my character a way that was a total 180 gree parture om what her strength and inty was. I got the script of out of the blue that said I was gog to make a joke — My character didn’t know was a joke at the time — (and) say “Oh, I see this book you have (about) how to tell your parents you’re gay.
Now, you’re gay. ” And she’s tryg to nvce him that he is gay and she lov him and that God created him that way.
