The SAN DIEGO GAY MEN’S CHORUS is one of the ten largt GALA chos the Uned Stat. After performg together December 2009 for the first time 17 years, the San Diego Men’s Chos (SDMC) and the Gay Men’s Chos of San Diego (GMCSD), wh their uniquely distctive and proud. histori, officially merged to create the new SAN DIEGO GAY MEN’S CHORUS (SDGMC).

History of the Gay Men’s Chos of San Diego (1992-2010). The Gay Men’s Chos of San Diego was found 1992 by eleven San Diego Men’s Chos members who wanted to sg a self-intified “gay chos.
Wh s first year, GMCSD membership grew to over 30 sgers, and San Diego’s newly elected mayor ved the openly gay chos to perform as part of the openg entertament at her gural December 1993, the Chos prented s first public ncert – “Don We Now…”– before a standg-room-only dience at the Park Boulevard Uned Methodist Church. The San Diego Men’s Chos was formed 1985 after members of The Gay Men’s Chos of Los Angel me to San Diego to perform a benef ncert that promoted the lnch of a gay men’s chos San Diego. After a long and proud history, SDMC merged wh the Gay Men’s Chos of San Diego and 2010, formed a new chos lled the San Diego Gay Men’s Chos.

The Gay Men's Chos of San Diego currently has around 75 members, operatg unr the unbrella of Ft Cy Performg Arts, Inc.
The group was found October 1992 by 11 members of the San Diego Men's Chos who wanted to sg a self-intified "gay" chos.
Wh the first year, the membership tripled to over 30 sgers, and San Diego's newly elected mayor, San Goldg, ved the new gay chos to be the openg entertament at her gala celebratn guratn. That performance took place at the Universy Christian Church, a new venue for the Chos, which self reprented a breakthrough for the gay muny.
