Jeffery Colls and Herman Wtmoreland urageoly placed an ad The Advote, the natnal gay magaze, announcg the first gatherg of the Associatn for Gay Veterarians (AG Vets) to be held Las Vegas durg the 1978 AVMA nventn.
In addn to several genue quiri about the gural gatherg of gay veterarians, there was also a discrete phone ll om a veterarian askg, “Who were the generat who placed this immoral advertisement that magaze?!! Throughout the next , AG Vets beme a regular, rmal group of gay veterarians takg up space and gag regnn a predomantly heterosexual, cisgenr, male-domated, nservative profsn. Durg the 1980s, flyers posted by Stremme announcg gay events for stunt workg were routely torn down, however, this–albe mimal–visibily played an important role the velopment of the early works.
The panmic would later turn out to be one of the greatt humanarian cris and wreak havoc on the LGBTQIA muny at large but particular gay men.
