WASHINGTON (AP) — The Uned Stat is namg s first ternatnal envoy for gay rights. The State Department says Randy Berry will be s special envoy to promote human rights for lbian, gay, bisexual and transgenr dividuals. Berry is a veteran diplomat currently servg as nsul general at the U.S. Consulate Amsterdam, Netherlands. He's also served at U.S. posts Banglash, Egypt, Uganda and South Ai, and speaks Spanish and Arabic. The State Department said earlier would appot an openly gay foreign service officer to the post. Secretary of State John Kerry says Berry will help the Obama admistratn put gay rights at the re of s human rights efforts globally. The U.S. has urged foreign untri to elimate laws that crimalize nsensual same-sex activy.
