The purpose of this qualative study was to terme if social workers the cy of New Haven, Connecticut, ed an affirmative mol of terventn when workg wh homels LGBT youth. Maslow’s self-affirmatn theory served as the nceptual amework for this study. The terview qutns for this study examed how social workers affirmed homels LGBT youth their practic. Data was llected through dividual face-to-face semi-stctured terviews, telephone terviews and e-mail rpons wh 7 social workers and agency staff the cy of New Haven, Connecticut, who were reced through purposeful samplg. Emergent them this study dited that the participants did not make assumptns about sexual inty. The participants also rerced same genr relatnships as beg normal, addrsed homophobia, and supported their clients. However, the participants lacked tn and trag about the stag of g out and how to provi support to LGBT youth who may be experiencg strsors related to disverg or disclosg their sexual inty.
