Jt two years later, the group began hostg the Southeastern Gay Conference and lnched s newsletter, group, which later changed s name to the Carola Gay and Lbian Associatn, advoted for rights for the LGBTQ+ muny both on mp and off. Changg s name aga 1992 to Bisexuals, Gay Men, Lbians, Alli for Diversy group, members worked to crease the visibily of the LGBTQ+ muny through programs like Safe Zone Trag, which provis rourc, rmatn and a work of anizatn ntu today as the Sexualy and Genr fall 2000, then-Provost Robert Shelton appoted a mtee to review the UNC-Chapel Hill climate relatn to sexual orientatn and genr inty.

Later that year, the group succsfully applied to be a universy-regnized stunt anizatn and changed s name to the Carola Gay Associatn (CGA). In 1976, the CGA sponsored the first Southeastern Gay Conference and began publishg Lambda, the first LGBTQ+ stunt publitn the Uned Stat.
The anizatn has ntued to be active on mp and has changed nam several tim: Carola Gay and Lbian Associatn (1985-1992), Bisexuals, Gay Men, Lbians, and Alli for Diversy (B-GLAD, 1992-1998), Queer Network for Change (QNC, 1998-2003), Gay, Lbian, Bisexual, Transgenr - Straight Alliance (GLBT-SA, 2002-2010), Gay, Lbian, Bisexual, Transgenr and Straight Alliance (GLBTSA, 2010-2012), Sexualy And Genr Alliance (SAGA, 2012 - prent)*.
