By the end of 1967, NACHO had outled a basic statement of purpose and fed self as a central force the future of the gay rights movement. Its 1968 meetg would ntue this work wh the passage of a Homosexual Bill of Rights. Conference members met at The Trip, a three-story gay bar near the Chigo River.

One cisn at the nference was to adopt “Gay is good” as NACHO’s official motto. Moled on the phrase “Black is betiful, ” the NACHO phrase aimed to “replace a wishy-washy negativism toward homosexualy wh a no-nonsense posivism.
