It sets up a faiarly quat plot that was later employed the atroc Madonna film, The Next Bt Thg, and the tly funny Gayby: a straight woman and her gay bt iend ci to have a baby together. And happens: while cuddlg, as a straight woman and a gay man always do, Na and Gee kiss, and then sudnly Na gets even more amoro and go to take off his pants — but then they’re blsedly terpted by the phone, stoppg the awkward straight-gal-on-gay-guy love scene we fely don’t want to watch.

Well, I don’t know if do much for , as ’s not a movie about a gay man — ’s a movie about a sgle woman who has a gay iend. As Julie Salamon’s entertag bgraphy of Wasserste, Wendy and the Lost Boys: The Unmon Life of Wendy Wassersten, asserts, she also had a penchant for fallg hard for her gay iends, a group of men wh whom she surround herself as a theater profsnal — cludg fellow playwrights Christopher Durang and Terrence McNally, as well as André Bishop, who was the artistic director at Playwrights Horizons and later Lln Center (both theaters served as premiere venu for Wasserste’s plays). He was, of urse, openly gay.
