In 1970 an LSE stunt found the UK branch of the Gay Liberatn Front, a prott group that mand equal rights for LGBT people, and for all. LSE Library Curator Dr Gillian Murphy troduc the Gay Liberatn Front and shar some of the posters, photographs and leaflets relatg to their activi that you n fd the archiv here at LSE. The Gay Liberatn Front (GLF) origated the Uned Stat shortly after the Stonewall Uprisgs that began on 28 June 1969 New York Cy.
They wanted eedom for all opprsed people which clud actn agast discrimatn the workplace, tn, and by the medil tablishment, and to be ee to display gay affectn public.

“Gay Days” were held parks wh gam, kiss-s, sp the bottle and sg-a-longs to emergg gay folk classics. On 28 Augt 1971, the GLF Gay Youth group anised a monstratn Trafalgar Square mandg age of nsent be rced om 21 to 16, the same as for heterosexuals.
In July 1972, the GLF anised the first Gay Pri march startg at Trafalgar Square and endg Hy Park. Homema banners read “Gay is Proud”, “Homosexuals are Nature’s Children” and “We are humansexuals”. First UK Gay Pri, 1 July 1972 at Nelson’s Column Trafalgar Square.
