It is no small wonr to me why so many gays want nothg to do wh the church and have retreated to their own muny where at least they aren't ma to feel like scum that should be swept out wh the trash. Do ever cross the mds of some you folks, who wouldn't even want to s next to a gay person church, but stead choose to stay a "safe" distance om them, that you may be further om the kgdom of heaven than those you look down on? How many people who claim the mantle of ex-gay have bought to the notn that simply a matter of "pray the gay away" and you will somehow miraculoly bee straight, only to fd out after years of livg nial that they have been brawashed to a cel hoax when realy of all crashg down on them.

I gus what I'm tryg to say is this, while I agree the Bible do not sanctn immoral behavr of any kd, why is that an entire group of people are wrten off by the church at large and stigmatized bee ant gay activists have given them the imprsn that gays are not worth the time or effort to evangelize. Put yourself the sho of an Adventist who wak up every morng of their life knowg they are gay and longs to be loved like the rt of the "normal" folks.

It is altogether too easy for those who aren't gay, who don't really re to unerstand why some are that way, to simply wre off those who are as some kd of special class of sners servg a pronounced nmnatn. The person God ed to teach me the practil mechanics of how God works to reem was a homosexual who had learned through alg wh his weakns what meant to pend on God to do for what we are powerls to do for ourselv.

I have been most fortunate bee I do not f the stereotypil template, whatever that might be, that most church members njure up their mds of someone who is gay. It's only others they fd ntemptible, but is impossible to look at that child that bore and watched through childhood and now disver he is gay, your whole attu will change–unls you ci to disown that child and that is so spible that is unthkable for any parent to even nsir. If a person clean and clar they are an alholic, I have often seen them met wh open arms and abundant unrstandg, but when a person clar they are gay, they are often shunned and treated wh ntempt.

I n accept that a person n be born gay, but what my fah Christ, ref to allow me to accept, is that a person who is born gay, has no choice how they live their life.

Gay people certaly need to feel a great al of support om church members, but not support of their "gayns" but support their stggle to overe. The pro-gay agenda that seems to be spreadg through the church seems to be full of people that would like to have an open bar at their AA meatgs. I hear what you are sayg and agree wh a great al of what you say, but do you realize how offensive your openg sentence is, "why should beg gay be viewed any differently than alholism.

" Why is that the notn of someone beg gay tomatilly provok the ia that one is sleepg around and is therefor lumped to a group wh adulterer, murrers and dnkards? I lived shame si most of my life, gay bashg as a means to pe nial, hatg the gay rights movement bee was a nstant remr of what I hated myself, and thkg that I uld somehow pray the gay away. The difference and outright rejectn of many by the church for so many years is what has sparked the fire the heart of gay people the church who feel they have been unjtly nmned for jt beg attracted to the same sex om no nsc choice of their own.

The qutn begs to be asked, how many gays would never have gone to a liftyle that led many to an early ath wh AIDS, or felt a need to jo a gay muny where they found support and love outsi the church, if the church would have taken a more passnate approach. What I was drivg at wh my openg statement was, that Alholism is an issue that I have seen the church handle wh a great al of unrstandg and passn, and the issue of beg gay should be handled wh the same level of unrstandg/passn, if not a whole lot more.

I do not believe that every gay person sleeps around, and I unrstand that there are probably plenty of people who intify themselv as gay yet live their liv wh the hight of biblil morals upheld. I know several homosexuals and their parents all have said they knew when their child was very young, nothg abut beg "nverted, "anymore than a heterosexual n be nverted to a homosexual. Too many folks here are thkg that a film that shows people tellg how they were treated the church once they were found to be gay, that that tomatilly nclus they are tryg to promote a "let all hang out" gay liftyle.

Can you any way your md walk some gay persons sho and unrstand what is like to be so sgled out for add nmnatn as some homophob feel jtified dog? Any scrptural reference to homosexualy as s is misreadg or misapplyg scripture, homphobic and sglg out homosexuals as targets for discrimatn or worst. Do ever occur to church people that when a gay person is met wh such nigratg stigma the church, that many see a wele alternative the gay culture where there isn't the stg of stigma?

When children at an early age show all sorts of signs of preferrg the drs, behavrs and everythg associated wh the oppose of their physil sexualy, then te homosexualy begs–though may never be acted upon, at least until postpuberty. The only realy any of n al wh is our own realy, and for most gay people, the realy is that of beg "different" as long as they n remember.
