A Texas Department of Public Safety DNA lab report nfirmed that blood found on the Jeep's rear rgo mat matched Gaytan, acrdg to documents. Detectiv nclud that Gaytan was ad and had been killed by Marquez at his home before her body was transported the Jeep to an unknown lotn only accsible by off-road vehicl and that he ed the shovel to bury the enforcement and volunteers have searched the Red Sands sert area several tim but have not found Gaytan's body. Andrea Gaytan ’92 remembers the day she and three other unrgraduate stunts began a six-day hunger strike on the steps of Mrak Hall to monstrate for social and amic jtice.

Like many first-year stunts, Gaytan arrived at UC Davis expectg a tradnal llege experience. “I felt a tge of imposter syndrome while gettg to know so many fabulo stunts and peers who had done amazg thgs – I was feelg aquate a lot of ways, ” Gaytan said. After stgglg amilly, Gaytan found tert ethnic studi and China/Chino studi bee the class helped change her outlook on beg at UC Davis.
