“Gay Gotham” is divid to three major chronologil sectns: “Visible Subcultur” vers the early 1910s to the 1930s, and tak a look at how gay life flourished neighborhoods like Harlem and Greenwich Village.
The first gallery opens wh artist and wrer Richard Bce Nugent, the most openly gay figure of the Harlem Renaissance. Leonard Bernste, the most proment artist here, exemplifi the challeng gay artists faced post-World War II Ameri: a voted hband to Chilean actrs Felicia Cohn Montealegre and father of three children, Bernste never me out publicly wh fear of damagg his reer.
