I eagerly read Gregory Col’s Sgle, Gay, Christian: A Personal Journey of Fah and Sexual Inty as soon as I received . Exercis like the are necsary bee the church has often failed people stgglg this way—by enuragg revulsn toward gay people and suggtg they mt bee straight to fulfill God’s mand.

He, however, balks at the term “same-sex attracted” due to s nnectn wh the ex-gay movement. He prefers “gay” bee  don’t gloss over what he experienc, even though he’s aware that the church n rry the nnotatn of one who acts on their sir. He wr, “[I]f I’m hont, there are issu I nsir more theologilly straightforward than gay marriage that scere Christians have disagreed on for centuri” (108).

Rather than hold out the possibily that the Bible might be okay wh homosexual relatnships—which I believe is likely to damage those the thick of same-sex sir—I’d rather affirm the strongt terms that God is clear, and plead that his Word be read. That repeated work on an abstract level—figurg out what means to be gay and Christian or trans and Christian—n take a real toll on you as a ’s important to do the work of growg and healg as a person bee, at the end of the day, the one relatnship that you n’t ever fully remove yourself om is the one you have wh yourself.

If you are livg an isolated area, or if you are unable or aaid to meet other gay Christians person, look onle. There are fe msage boards, social media groups, and webs for gay Christians.

Reassure them that you know what you are talkg about, that you have always been gay, and that you are still a Christian. Look for materials meant to support Christians wh gay fay members. If you live wh homophobic fay members, have a backup plan before you e out, or if you fear beg outed.

If they say you're nfed, rebellg, or have "chosen" to intify as gay, all you n do is say that you unrstand why they thk that, but 's not te. If your fay is worried that gay love is a s, 's up to you how much you re to share wh them. Don't get sucked to endls arguments about the Bible and gay love wh anyone who harass you.
