Reviewed the Uned Stat on March 4, 2015It’s no secret that I’m a HUGE Gayle Forman fan so needls to say, I WAS HERE was one of my most anticipated reads of 2015 that I hope to read way before 2015. Firstly, was Gayle Forman so I knew I WAS HERE would not only brg a new level of tensy and matury — sce I’ve seen her wrg grow each book — but also an onslght of raw emotn that I fell head over heels for books like IF I STAY and JUST ONE DAY.

My first reactn after fishg was that I WAS HERE fely had a different feel than Gayle Forman’s prev books… But lookg back, JUST ONE DAY and JUST ONE YEAR were also very different om IF I STAY/WHERE SHE WENT. )I WAS HERE felt que a b different than Gayle’s prev books two noticeable ways for me. Obvly any plot has to have some sort of need for a rolutn otherwise the book seems to have no pot… but wh Gayle’s prev books, was much more about the characters fdg an answer about themselv vers an outsi motive, which brgs me to the send big difference for me: the volvement of a third major character.

My favore thors will always be wrg somethg new, nstantly improvg themselv and their wrg, and brgg h topics to their rears and I’m so imprsed wh how no matter what Gayle Forman has wrten so far, I’ve fallen love wh each book she’s penned very different ways. I’m gettg a b off-topic here, but om what I’ve heard when seeg Gayle speak at events, I feel like this is fely somethg that’s important to her so I feel a small sense of pri when I notice somethg like that.

Naturally a Gayle Forman book, there is no shortage of gut-punchg feels. It’s fely a heavy-htg book as far as emotnal roller asters go but Gayle Forman knows exactly where to lead you on that journey.

As always, I jt really love how real every character felt and Gayle Forman always do an amazg job at brgg characters, settg, and emotns to life her I sat down to wre this review, I did NOT plan to wre seven paragraphs. I’m always left wh such a ep sense of unrstandg after readg a Gayle Forman novel, even when the subject matter is pletely foreign to me.

I mean, I’ve never been on life support, or traipsed around Paris (or the world) tryg to figure out what love tly is, and I haven’t alt wh the suici of someone I hold close only to be left tryg to pick up the piec…but I n say that bee of Gayle Forman’s books lettg me to the soul of her characters, I am fely changed. I Was Here is Gayle Forman’s fifth novel and a h parture om her last two sets of duologi, If I Stay and Where She Went, as well as Jt One Day and Jt One Year. I remend this book for Gayle Forman fans I love her pen, one of my favore thors.

If you know me, you know Gayle Forman is one of my favore thors. So whenever Gayle has a new book out ’s kd of sry bee there is always the potential NOT to love a favore thor’s book (I will need to a bottle of we and ke to pe if the day ever I don’t love a Gayle book). But this right here is what I love about Gayle Forman’s books!

I thk Gayle wrote that raw nfn very well as Cody tried to rencile her bt iend Meg wh the Meg she’s learng about. I thk Ben was pretty hot and trigug te Gayle Forman boy-wrg fashn but their romance was different for me.

It’s impacted me so much more the months sce I’ve read and I jt NEED another read bee there’s always so much to glean and thk about Gayle’s novels.

Gayle Forman fans, fans of books that tackle the trici of grief, ntemporary YA fans that don’t md somethg a ltle dark (but not overwhelmgly so). This is why Gayle Forman is a favore of me.
