Like numero recent French telepics, "A Love to Hi" offers gay-themed drama more pellg and better-produced than a lot of what's shown up on ternatnal bigscreens and at gay fts of late. Ocsnally over-rigged script and directn, the meller, om helmer Christiane Fre, nohels provis a stirrg tale of gay male lovers the Nazi era. Polished effort is a natural for DVD sale offshore niche markets, wh theatril export a lser possibily. * a love to hide gay film *
Though safe for the moment thanks to Jean’s quick-thkg plan to pass her off as a Gallic employee of his fay’s lndry bs, Sara watch horror as her homosexual protector is forced to a Nazi labor mp as a tragic rult of a bad cisn ma by Jean’s troublome brother Jacqu. This is a betifully tragic queer war film, showg the harsh reali of France durg the German occupatn as affects to both Jews and Homosexuals.
There are some great exampl of that terrifyg time, and even how they found the abily to enjoy themselv; the scene Groff’s is rather enjoyable – until the tth that homosexuals are now beg targeted sks .
Un amour à taire is a 2005 French film that was origally ma for televisn. Here's the trailer for the film ('s not of very good qualy, but 's the bt I uld fd wh subtl): A Love to Hi is billed as a gay love story set durg the Nazi occupatn of Paris … * a love to hide gay film *
Except his name was already down for beg gay and all go out of ntrol to tragic. "While "Hi" provis an excellent history lson for younger gays (well, anybody for that matter) and is a worthwhile effort overall, this reviewer fds not at the same level of 'memorable-ns' as is this director's earlier (2000) film work (see my PS-- about that excg productn, below). You're a gay films review rear and, more relevantly, if you're a gay films review wrer, then mentg on actor, Jeremie Renier, be absolutely sential right about now.
Much the same n be said of his lover, effectively played by Swiss-born Bno here's one very hard life lson poted out by this film, no matter whether your character name is Jean (Renier) or Max (Clive Owen)---If you're French (or German, as the se may be) and gog to a lol, gay dance club, don't take a sp around the floor, or otherwise nsort wh an officer of the ary forc occupyg your untry. )PS--Perhaps I'm not appreciative enough of this directorial I thk I'll jt stick to a warm, gay romance, such as the tly great "Jt a Qutn of Love. I'd like to be able to report that the screenplay to "Un amour a taire" (A Love to Hi) is perfect, pecially as vers such an important, and hherto neglected subject, as the "retn" of homosexuals unr the Nazis Vichy France; but, alas, is not.
The tragedy is that this sort of thg is still gog on today, particularly untri like Iran, which recently hanged two teenage boys for beg gay.
