Exercis like the are necsary bee the church has often failed people stgglg this way—by enuragg revulsn toward gay people and suggtg they mt bee straight to fulfill God’s mand. He, however, balks at the term “same-sex attracted” due to s nnectn wh the ex-gay movement.
He prefers “gay” bee don’t gloss over what he experienc, even though he’s aware that the church n rry the nnotatn of one who acts on their sir.
He wr, “[I]f I’m hont, there are issu I nsir more theologilly straightforward than gay marriage that scere Christians have disagreed on for centuri” (108). Rather than hold out the possibily that the Bible might be okay wh homosexual relatnships—which I believe is likely to damage those the thick of same-sex sir—I’d rather affirm the strongt terms that God is clear, and plead that his Word be read.

A Two-Mute Clip on Homosexualy Every Christian Should Watch (Sam Allberry). “Let’s make a al, you and me, ” wr Gregory Col, thor of the book Sgle, Gay, Christian: A Personal Journey of Fah and Sexual Inty. I’ll tell you how I lay on my bed the middle of the night and whispered to myself the words I’ve whispered a thoand tim sce: ‘I’m gay.
Do not be ceived: neher the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men [or women] who practiced homosexualy, nor thiev, nor the greedy, nor dnkards, nor revilers, nor swdlers will her the kgdom of God. It was important to help her unrstand that one of the ss that will keep a person om the kgdom of God is homosexualy.
SGLE, GAY, AND CHRISTIAN (GREG COL INTERVIEW PT. 1)
Gregory Col says the church should offer “breathg room” for gay Christians, like himself, who want to pursue sexual hols. * single gay christian *
The young woman rpond wh a mon rebuttal: J didn’t say anythg about homosexualy.
Therefore, when we read Romans 1, 1 Corthians 6, or 1 Timothy 1 that homosexualy is s, though the words were wrten by the Apostle Pl, they are also the words of Christ. Wh the love of Christ for this woman, who had been attendg our church and was listeng to me preach, I was not about to let her leave our livg room believg that she uld practice a gay liftyle and still her the kgdom of God when the Bible says the oppose. After readg Sgle, Gay, Christian, I wonred if Gregory Col had ever heard the thgs I told that young woman.
Prr to pickg up the book, I had been told that Sgle, Gay, Christian was about a young man who stggled wh same-sex attractn, but he had ma a mment to Christ to rema celibate — hardly mon today’s hyper-sexualized, genr-nfed, stant-gratifitn culture.

Much k has been spilled (or keys have been clacked, I gus) about whether or not a person n be gay and a Christian. To ll onelf a “gay Christian” is to tack a s adjective to the ont of the pursu of hols.
There is no evince that there are people who have a permanent orientatn for homosexualy. Is he aware of what he’s llg himself when he proudly adms that he is gay?
I me away om the book knowg more about Greg, but I’d not been any more rmed about “Sgle Gay Christians. I nnot let you leave believg that a person n be gay and a Christian when the Bible says the oppose.

He don’t make an appeal to any other self-ascribed gay men to leave a life of sfulns and be celibate. ” So believg that he had no where else to turn, Greg beme ntent llg himself gay.
“When you say ‘gay’ the church ntext, many Christians assume you mean the active pursu of gay sex, ” he says. “But when I hear most people outsi the walls of the church e the word gay, they’re talkg about an orientatn, the nature of a person’s attractns, not about a specific sexual act. ” Greg wants to believe that the world has the bt tentns when appli the word “gay.
“Beg gay don’t mean you’re actively havg sex, the same way that beg straight don’t mean you n’t be sgle and mted to sexual abstence. ” The world don’t have a problem unrstandg what a person means when they say “gay, ” Greg says. All this tells me is that the strategy to normalize terms like gay, lbian, bi-sexual, and transgenr as an inty has worked, and Greg has naively bought to .

In 1988, a group of proment homosexuals gathered Warrentown, VA to map out a plan that would make homosexualy accepted by the general public. As a rult of this meetg, Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen wrote a book entled After the Ball: How Ameri Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays the 90s. Part of that strategy was to portray gays as victims and to make those who oppose homosexualy to vic haters, g bumper-sticker rhetoric and appeals to emotn rather than facts and logic.
The homosexual agenda got massive exposure through mic, movi, televisn, and the arts. A word like “gay, ” fg men who had sex wh other men, was refed to scribe a person wh a natural, unchangeable orientatn. “I lled myself ‘gay’ my own head, bee was the bt word I knew to scribe the world I occupied.
Not to put too fe a pot on , but the word “gay” appears 160 tim Greg’s book. He spends ls time talkg about what means to be a Christian, and more time makg sure that you know he’s gay.
