Isn't odd; we still e gaiety, so why should a happy word like gay be so mistreated? If I say this, while gay has many meang, gaiety has only meang of joyfulns. Generally, I would have said that any texts wrten before the 1950s the word "gay" would only have one meang: cheerful!
