After disverg that the lot was fact public property and part of the Marv Gaye Park rridor, we were able to, along wh a wi range of muny partners, to reclaim this long-fotten plot of earth and transform to the vibrant cultural, nutrnal, enomic, and tnal hub that is today. In addn to servg as a base of muny stewardship and programmg of Marv Gaye Park, DC’s longt municipal park, the one-acre se provis troductory green job and enterprise trag through Parks & People’s Green Corps program, cultural and tnal programmg through our ParkArts program, park-based health through our Heart & Soul program, and year-round food through our Communy Harvt program. The Marv Gaye Greeng Center is equipped wh a stage for performanc, expendary learng garn beds, grills for h produce okg mos, a new outdoor farm kchen g soon, and even has an on-se office space.

Parks & People’s own urban agriculture s, the Marv Gaye Greeng Center and the Columbia Heights Green, provi year-round healthy food and programmg opportuni for public land reclamatn, green planng and sign, arts and cultural events, job trag, volunteer support, and advocy for muny greeng efforts. Together wh our partners at DC Parks and Recreatn, DC Department of the Environment, DC Urban Greens, and the UDC College of Agriculture, Urban Staabily, and Environmental Scienc (CAUSES), we operate a mol urban farm and native refortatn nursery around the rner at the Marv Gaye Communy Greeng Center. The historic se of Marv Gaye’s profsnal sgg but the old Crystal Room nightclub, Riversi featur a 2, 000-square-foot assembly space, a brand new 1500-square-foot mercial kchen and fe, a bike repair statn, and an door growg place now home to 560 anic produce seedlgs.
