"When I was younger, mostly my teens and 20s, I had strange ias about femists as hairy, angry, man-hatg, sex-hatg women (as if those are bad thgs), " Gay says. But there me a time when Gay realized, spe the stereotyp, that she was, fact, a femist. "I reject the mastream femism that has historilly ignored or flected the needs of women of lor, workg-class women, queer women and transgenr women favor of supportg whe, middle- and upper-class straight women, " Gay says.
