“A Lumberjack’s Gui to Dryad Spottg” is probably about 1000 words, but tells a pretty big story about two gay lumberjacks that go beyond where I thought the story would go. Our hero, a pair of gay lumberjacks who are subtle, but not that subtle, the mp about their relatnship, are prented as good lumberjacks: they get there early, they chop down tre.

Even though the story tablish that the dryads have a hunger for human blood, and that they n be dangero and attack, the gay lumberjacks are savg the dryads– exchange for the dryads helpg the uple hi safety the future. I also enjoy the shout out to the diversy the LGBT muny—that the ma characters are “bears” (read: big beard hairy gay men). I also like where this story didn’t go: The other lumberjacks uld have “found them out” and hurt them and this would have been a predictable “hurt the gays” story—but the men’s reactns are plex: they both sire the eedom of the gay men to form a relatnship, and also have an imprsn that there is a fluidy to sexualy and the man you are mp is not the man you are back the “real world.
The gay men are not some gay paradise–they are an allowed limbo that is cumbent upon tac ignorance and acceptance–a short-lived wdow of opportuny. In the last paragraph, jt as you’ve cid the men will e the dryads to fund their pe om this tricky life of mascule nformy, they form a unn wh the dryads by rcug them, and, at least the proposn one of the gay lumberjacks offers, replantg them a “safe space” wh the lumberjacks their new home. Before "don't ask, don't tell" was officially repealed for gay, lbian, and bisexual ary personnel 2011, a photo of a male Mare drag uld have land him hot water.
"Lbian, gay, and bisexual ary personnel had been servg our untry for s whout receivg equal protectn, while transgenr troops are still prohibed om servg openly. "As a gay man, I n relate to what is still the opprsive stigma of homosexualy.
