In the early 1990's, an effort to improve muny relatns, the Dallas Police Department created the Lbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgenr, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Liaison posn. LGBT liaison officers or Gay and Lbian Liaison Officers (GLLOs) are dividuals who work wh anisatns as a pot of ntact. Victoria Police has over 450 LGBTIQ+ liaison officers (LLOs), servg as ntact pots for the lbian, gay, bisexual, transgenr, tersex and queer muny.

In s outreach work, the GLLU transcends geographic boundari to ntact the gay muny-a populatn that is often difficult to intify and lote wh tradnal policg boundari.

Rather than wag for gay muny members to approach them, the GLLU reach out to the gay muny members their own environment-social functns, memorials, bars, clubs, rtrants, support groups, and muny and anizatnal meetgs. By tegratg themselv the gay muny, the GLLU officers not only tablish themselv as tstworthy but also intify key rmatn sourc for future vtigatns wh the gay muny. The GLLU's peer officer trag further improv both teractns between police officers and the gay muny as well as the succs of vtigatns volvg members of this muny.
