The rearcher's personal experience, bed wh the intifitn of the occupatnal therapy profsn's past and prent lack of attentn to the issue of sexual orientatn, stimulated the cisn to unrtake this rearch, which aimed to explore and unrstand the lived occupatnal experienc of gay men and women. A qualative approach was ed, workg wh the tradn of phenomenology. Five gay men and women participated unstctured terviews. This rearch generated five them, which provid sight to how sexual orientatn n affect the occupatns and the environment that a person choos to engage through heterosexism and fear of discrimatn, prejudice and even physil attack. Most rponnts felt prepared and fortable to work wh clients who are gay, lbian, or bisexual, and 48% agreed that sexualy fluenc occupatnal choic.
