I have tried to fd tailed bgraphy of the French archeologist, Albert Gayet, who disvered the fascatg Coptic mummi and their attachments at the Coptic necropolis Antoplis (Antoe/Coptic Ensena/ Sheikh ‘Ibada village now), which he started exvatg sce 1896. [1] Albert Gayet is simply a very important figure the study of Coptic culture and nnot be ignored – and his disveri, which have not been studied properly, yet, are sential tool redisverg the brilliant Coptic civilisatn. Thanks to the Louvre, Albert Gayet’s Coptic treasure, which ed Wtern Coptomania (Coptomanie) when was exhibed at the begng of the 20th century, is beg rtudied g the most advanced rearch.

In 1901, Gayet disvered near Antoë two fully clothed mummi, whom he intified g burial scriptns as Thaïs and Sérapn.
