I loved the first half the way I've loved Gay's prev books (he's my favore thor). Reviewed the Uned Stat on January 1, 2023I had not read anythg by William Gay, so this novel was a gratifyg disvery. The parisons wh William Flkner are valid, not only bee Gay is brgg to life a patch of southern land and people, but bee he wr wh a prose style that is both mcular and lyril, and he is full of sights to universal human psychology, s longg and tratns, and he has a keen eye for the explible turngs of human fate.
William Gay was also spired by Huck and this novel is his tribute, but no pale imatn.
