Followg this, they formed a uc of gay and lbian psychiatrists, which began to meet for socializatn, support and advocy. In addn, the uc helped foster the formatn of the Commtee on Gay, Lbian and Bisexual issu, a standg mtee of the APA.

Although the uc and the mtee are official bodi of the APA anizatn, much of the discsn and planng addrsg gay and lbian issu tak place the AGLP meets formally two tim a year, associatn wh the APA's fall anizatnal meetg and the annual meetg. For the last two years, the AGLP has sponsored a two-day urse on Treatg Lbians and Gays Psychiatric Practice, wh support of the APA. Currently, AGLP is volved planng urs for Toronto and the Instute Los Angel next addn, there are efforts to ensure that medil schools and rinci provi appropriate and relevant tn about gays and lbians.
