It was the first Pri March on the Ain ntent and acted as both a gay pri event and an anti-Apartheid march. The march was anised by the Gay and Lbian Organisatn of the Wwatersrand (GLOW) and attracted a crowd of about 800 people. The purpose of the event was not only to monstrate pri gay or lbian inty but also to provi a wir platform for voicg polil ncerns.
The march was part of a broar stggle to crimalise homosexualy South Ain law and to end Apartheid. Addrsg the crowd, Simon Nkoli said; “I am black and I am gay.
