Though she’d been spltg time between Montreal and var other plac the world (specifilly untri like Belgium and Brazil), Gayance is currently based Amsterdam, where she spoke to Cult MTL om. While she attribut the album’s lay partly to how much time took to get prsed, Gayance also had a parallel project on the go that would ntribute to the hold-up. In Gayance’s words, Masra is the story of her 20s.

For Gayance, her 20s were spent learng what her boundari were, and how to check them — somethg she adms she hasn’t been great at dog. Gayance’s late grandfather led a choir group, and was one of the first to brg ngas to church Quebec, an stment that featur heavily the track. Gayance would also get to play a number of ftivals across the pond last summer, cludg Down the Rabb Hole the Netherlands last July, where she got the chance to meet none other than Erykah Badu.

Havg spent so much time ternatnally recent years, Gayance’s travels Europe and Lat Ameri haven’t jt prumably helped her rack up plenty of Air Mil, but they’ve tght her about life and mic ways she might not have necsarily learned Montreal. Dpe her time spent thoands of kilometr away om the cy that mould her, Gayance wants to protect Montreal’s nightlife whichever way possible. The remar of this year will be a by one for Gayance, as she gears up to play ftivals (cludg Horst Belgium and Dekmantel Selectors Croatia), perform wh a live band and release a pann short film for Masra.
