Il y a à nouve s maniftatns en 1979 et en 1980 à l’appel du CUARH (Comé d’Urgence Anti-Réprsn Homosexuelle), ntre « l discrimatns anti-homosexuell ». 000 personn maniftent à l’appel du CUARH, et le ndidat à l’électn présintielle François Mterrand s’engage, quelqu jours après cette maniftatn, à dépénaliser l’homosexualé.
Cette année marque le 50e anniversaire la Gay Pri, survenue un an après l émt Christopher Street, souvent nsidéré me la pierre angulaire du mouvement morne s dros LGBTQ+.

Ce sont s efforts qui ont aidé l ant· homosexuel·l à poser l bas s célébratns la Gay Pri, jqu' défilé la Marche s Fiertés. Sargeant et Rodwell géraient la librairie Osr Wil, la première librairie gay du pays, et ils utilisaient lr fichier d'adrs pour llecter s fonds et faire passer le mot. De nombrs réunns planifitn ont également li à la librairie; me l'écr le se la NYU "Rearchg Greenwich Village History", celle-ci "a fa office centre muntaire pour la munté gay du Wt Village".
Craig Schoonmaker qui ava suggéré le terme "Gay Pri" (fierté gay) plutôt que "Gay power" (pouvoir gay).
"Ce n't qu'après la marche que c pnniers homosexuels ont réalisé ce qui éta possible", se souvient Sargeant. En France, c’t à partir 1971 qu’un mouvement LGBTQ+ visible s't mis en place, avec la créatn du FHAR (Front Homosexuel d’Actn Révolutnnaire).
