In this most creative lennial versn, Darcy is a poor "real" man who seems nfed vis-à-vis his sexualy, and unable to adm his gayns —although pairg him up wh a woman whose character simultaneoly embodi both Lady Cathere and Carole Bgley, two of Jane Aten's most hated characters, is enough to send any man lookg for alternative love terts.
The Wickham-like lawyer of qutnable moraly, whom Ben Bent dat briefly, is pable of abandong his wife and children spe beg gay. Social mentary, unlike Jane Aten's more subtle voice, is nothg if not overt, as Ktner and Lyle lecture Cathy about her own not-so-subtle bias agast gay romanc.
