OLD iendships were rekdled and many new iendships began when St Joseph’s School marked 100 years of Catholic tn Gayndah, weekend-long ftivi one of Queensland’s olst towns began wh a piic on the 6 stunt lears stood out om the crowd their green centenary shirts as they led guts on school, prent and future stunts, staff and parents and special guts were also treated to stunt performanc, memorabilia and history displays.

Parents and staff later enjoyed a we and chee eveng at the Gayndah Art Gallery (formerly the old nvent buildg) began wh a Centenary Mass the St Joseph's Sports Centre ncelebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Ken Howell and Gayndah Parish Admistrator Fr Adrian the ngregatn were some very special guts - Good Samaran Sisters, the orr who found the school 1919. However, as Gayndah is one of the olst towns Queensland, is no surprise to disver that the history of Catholic tn the area is also school was origally meant to open January 1920, but Archbishop Jam Duhig, alongsi Mathor Mary Marcella, announced durg his vis to Gayndah on September 13, 1919, that the school would open on October 6, pair were town to open and bls the parish's new nvent, which parishners were nstctg alongsi the this stage, the parish was onto s third church, the first two havg been lost to natural McLeen was the first child entered on the new school's roll - 56 children had registered by October 6, and there were 70 by the end of the year. 4 ln led to the revelopment of the nvent to the Gayndah Arts and Cultural project, which volved St Joseph's partnerg wh Gayndah State School and North Burt Regnal Council, has enabled the historil buildg to be rtored and veloped to a morn art gallery and art centre which is now enjoyed by all the muny.

On September 13th, 1919, Archbishop Jam Duhig and Mother Mary Marcella (of the ‘Sisters of the Good Samaran’ – Mother General) arrived Gayndah, Queensland, for the openg, and blsg, of the brand new nvent was to acmodate the ‘St Josephs School‘, and, provi hog for the Sisters and boardg stunts. The nvent fell further and further to disrepair, until 2012, when the then prcipal of the ‘Gayndah State School’, Kelly Jeppen, disvered the Feral Government’s ‘Lol Schools Workg Together’ pilot program.

‘Gayndah State School’ which is loted jt across the road om the ‘St Joseph’s Catholic School’ and the nvent, me together to put forward a proposal, cludg ncept drawgs, to nvert the nvent to an arts and cultural centre, for both their stunts and the broar months later, the schools were granted $2. Today the nvent ho the ‘Gayndah Arts & Cultural Centre‘ old Convent, pated a warm grey wh whe trimmgs, featur a red, rgated iron, gable roof wh two protdg gabl at both ont ends of the buildg.
